Jowgen the Spiritualist
Attrib: Light
Type: Spellcaster/Effect
Level:3
Atk: 200
Def: 1300
Randomly discard 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to destroy all Special Summoned monsters on the field. In addition, as long as this card remains face-up on the field, no monsters can be Special Summoned.

Notable Rulings:

-When playing with this card you need to remember which monsters on the field were Special Summoned because they can later be destroyed with the effect of "Jowgen the Spiritualist". If a monster that was Special Summoned is flipped face-down, it can still be destroyed by the effect of "Jowgen the Spiritualist".

This weeks theme (my last week by the way) was themed based on a Legend of Zelda deck I made with these cards. Chances are there will be no CotD next week until your new CotD poster arrives.

Not something you expected huh? From hence forth, I declare Fridays "Freaky Fridays" (I know not very original). Fridays will be a day where you can explore your inner creativity and bring something new. Fridays will feature OCG (Official Card Game), CCG (Created Card Game), and others you won't expect (It might still include current cards, but it won't be what you expect). Your mission: Discuss this cards effect and how it could affect todays game, or post some interesting combos.

For us very small number of nerds who have never been able to get on our hands on the game, can someone explain the links? I get Obnoxious Celtic Guard (Link), but the rest are a blank to me (of course).

Celtic Guardian / Obnoxious Celtic Guard (as the game evolved) = Link
Despair from the Dark to represent Ganon
Solar Flare Dragon to represent Volvagia
Mefist the Infernal General to represent Shadow Ganon
Jowgen to represent the power of the spirits (Originally Raru).

Man how that deck worked... somehow.

I was gonna just put Heavy Storm to represent Song of Storms, but then again that card was mained/is mained by everyone.

JOWGEN IS AWESOME!!!  My only problem with him has always been his effect's cost.  Of course, you could always just set your hand unless for w/e reason you didn't care what you discarded (maybe you have both PSZ and Zephyros in your hand; or a boss monster with CotH set).  During IOC and up for a few formats I occasionally made decks that mained 3 of this guy.  At the time he was one of the ultimate troll cards, and if your deck is fine with minimal special summoning you can capitalize all day.  In the formats when the only mass monster destruction was Torrential and Mirror Force this guy could pretty much sit all day long in defense with Heart of Clear Water.

*goes to make a deck with both Jowgen and Fossil Dyna now*  Dyna's totally Jowgen's bestest friend and loyal companion. ^_^

Darn I'm sorry to see you go. This here is the only reason I come to this sure really.

Ok so this card is nice, get rid of special summoning. and considering how much special summoning is done per turn in certain decks, this is amazing. As long as you don't need to special summon too often, you're good.

4/5 cause you don't get to special summon either. And you lose your special summoned monsters too
