I was wondering if Begone Knave's effect sending monsters to the hand will stop a Spirit Monster's effect that involves inflicting battle damage (Yamata Dragon, Hino-Kagu etc).

Chainsaw Insect: If "Chainsaw Insect" battles, your opponent draws 1 card even if "Chainsaw Insect" is destroyed as a result of the battle, or is removed from the field before the end of the Damage Step (for example, by the effect of... "Begone, Knave!").

Id assume The sAme ruiling applies that the Effects would chain to each other then Monster gets bounced and effect resolves in the hand so as long as it dosent Require itself to be Face-up on the field upon resolution it SHOULD work id assume

As long as the monster deals the damage, it will activate.

Begone and Hino/Yamata would both activate and chain one to another. You'd get to resolve both effects as well.

SEGOC: Simultaneous Effects Go On Chain.

Both the Spirit Monster's and Begone, Knave's effects activate after taking damage in the Damage Step, thus they activate simultaneously. To form the chain, the turn player's effect is chain link 1, while the opposing player's effect is chain link 2. The chain then resolves backwards. Begone, Knave would return the monster to the hand, then the monster's effect would resolve (as it doesn't require itself to remain on the field, only that the damage is done).

This would also be true of any other monster with a similar effect, such as Spirit Reaper.

Well a Spirit Monster's effect happens in the End Phase. It doesn't affect anything else about any other card. So it would still have it's effect, and it will still get returned to the hand after the attack.

Hold on.. Wtf does Hino Kagu Tsuchi do?

Hino Kagu Tsuchi - When it deals battle damage, its effect activates. Once it resolves, it places a condition. Before your opponent draws in their next draw phase, they must discard their whole hand. Once Hino resolves, it doesn't matter if he's not around at the time your opponent should discard their hand.

Yamata Dragon - When it deals battle damage, you draw cards until you have 5 cards in hand.

Yeah that's what I thought. So I was right about it being totally irrelevant then. I thought he had a hidden unknown ability or something. Which is weird, because this isn't the anime.

Or, if both effects are from the same player, that player decides which effect activates first. (not so obvious as you may think)
