So when are we going to see an updated YVD? If possible, could I possibly get the source code and see what I can do with it? Just a couple questions. I'd like to make YVD relevant again if possible. It kinda sucks that such an amazing piece of work has just faded into the darkness.

As it's been stated by plenty of other people, YVD would need development done from literally the ground up. The original code doesn't have a good way to edit the field structure or new gameplay mechanics that have come out since Zexal. That, and we don't actually have regular people who want to do the development. Plus, it faces very stiff competition from both DuelingBook and YGOPro. So yeah, we aren't going to see an updated YVD. If you want a good duel sim that's actually active, you should probably try to see if YGOPro has most of it's bugs worked out yet. It doesn't, but it's got a mostly better community than DuelingBook.

I actually don't know who's in charge of the source code - I'm just head of the forums.
I'd say YVD paved the way for all dueling simulators, so it did it's job. There's nothing wrong with using someone else's simulator. Also, YVD and DN were incredibly similar in terms of functionality. YVD had the advantage of being downloadable and faster, but DN was more aesthetically pleasing and had a better way of finding a duel.
If you want to recreate YVD, go for it. The source code is likely outdated. And one of the biggest perks of YGOPro is the fact that it sorts out rulings. That's a huge database of things to keep track of, but that's the reason why I've always preferred it to the rest of the competition. Are you sure it's worth it? What exactly is your YVD going to have that the others don't?

I was actually going to make YVD for the sake of the tcg/ocg platform.
What do you mean by this?
For the record, I might sound negative, but I have no issue with you giving this a go if you want to. I just don't want to see you wasting your time, so I want to at least see something new that you'll bring to the table before reinventing the wheel.

Kudos Horu for trying to make YVD relevant again. But I believe we're past our prime, man.

Hi,
I'm the one that added Xyz support to YVD. Sadly I don't have the source code anymore. I've thought about adding pendulum/link support. It would be a trivial thing to do just to add the card types, the only non-trivial part is adding face-up extra deck, but also not difficult. I think only ensui has the source code, and don't know how to contact him. But if there was a way to provide the VB6 source I could pretty easily add support.
