...And so it came to pass, finally that Gerdat finished the Wonder Trade Run. Damn this took longer than it should have. Although that is entirely my fault. I now have 999 Sitrus berries because It's the second best healing berry. I also bought all the Plates, but i still need some cash for the other unique held items Like the Orbs. Anyway, Ending Team and summary a go-go! Without a Yo-yo...
Pelipper
Level 61 with Air Cutter, Rain Dance, Hurricane, and Scald. With Keen Eye and a Damp Rock.
So... although a Rain Boosted Scaled WOULD have ohkoed the Skarmory, it's pretty much all Pelipper did aside from setting up Rain+ through the run. Stupid Sturdy working too well. Again, I love Pelipper, but we do have better Flying and/or Water Special Attackers. Oh well, I can't build Tank Pelipper.
Wishiwashi
Level 72 with Aqua Tail, Feint Attack, Dive, and Aqua Ring. With Schooling and the Splash Plate.
Honestly, I liked each time i got Wishiwashi during the run, since Schooling makes him a pseudo Legendary pokemon with shit tier speed. He can go physical sweeper to Tank, which is odd for me to note since his ability is very much anti tank. I'd actually recommend using him if you are tired of using Gyarados as your physical Water Sweeper.
Gyarados
Level 64 with Dragon Dance, Ice Fang, Crunch, and Aqua Tail. With Intimidate and the Mystic Water.
Speaking of, if you ever want to do a Wonder Trade run with this ruleset, expect to get Gyarados a LOT. Since Gen 4, he's turned into a real beast of a physical Sweeper, but they keep giving him Special Attacker steroids too, so he can go either way reasonably well. Also, He can learn Thunder. Just let that sink in.
Garchomp
Level 64 with Dragon Claw, Dig, Outrage, and Crunch. With Rough Skin and the Draco Plate.
Yes, landing a Gible that i could EV train was a huge help through this split, however... how do i put this, Garchomp is NOT the star player here, since he accomplished as much or slightly more than everyone other than Pelipper. And i don't think i used Outrage even once during the fights. Really, he could have been a Mdsdale and would have served his purpose just as well. Although, he did show off why Tier 5 affection doesn't carry over to multiplayer battles.
Fearow
Level 63 with Drill Peck, Focus Energy, Drill Run, and Giga Impact. With Keen Eye and Normalium Z.
So, Fearow did really well against Hala... and That's about it. And even then, he got one shot by Bewear, who I REALLY WISH I had had during the run at ANY point. Bewear is so awesome... OH, but Fearow did get to use an effectively 300 Base Power Breakneck Blitz. Was nice...
Aegislash
Level 64 with Iron Head, Shadow Claw, False Swipe, and Sacred Sword. With Stance Change and the Expert Belt.
Here is the Star Player for the split. Despite Stance Change making my defensive stats terrible, he was fast enough in Blade Forme to all but one shot everything he fought against, including Kukui's Snorlax, which I was slightly afraid of. He did make me feel like an idiot when I tried to use Sacred Sword against Dhelmise, though. I forgot that Dhelmise is Ghost/???, instead of Steel/Grass. Oh well.
Okay, Summary for the fights. Hala was the first one I went to take down, and the hardest one by FAR. He ended up taking down like 4 of my pokemon between Hariyama and Bewear. God I love Bewear. Sadly, Hurricane doesn't gain bonus damage from Rain Dance, just perfect Accuracy. Primeape's Outrage took out one of my pokemon, and Bewear's Brutal Swing took out Aegisslash, So I ended on Wishiwashi using Aqua Tail.
Next, we took out Olivia. Although it opened up going kinda badly, because Relicanth has Swift Swim, after Relicanth fell, the rest of the team just fell over. I recall losing 2 pokemon, but i only remember that i lost Pelipper on Relicanth. Garchomp took out Golem and Probopass, with Aegisslash taking out Carbink and Lycanroc. Overall, tied for the easiest fight I had.
Next was Acerola. I could have swore that Acerola had a Mimikyu that i was scared of, but nope. Honestly, after a Rain Boosted Scaled took down Sableye, Aegislash took out the rest of the team pretty easily. Gyarados took down Palossand though, so there's that. She REALLY wanted to stack stats on Driftblim for some reason, although maybe because it's all she's actually got in that moveset even though she used it last.
Okay next is Golf Chick, Name not Important because she was on vacation for the whole game. Bleh. Honestly, she wastied with Olivia for the Easiest fight despite the Skarmory that I didn't have an answer for. Toucannon took out someone with Beak Blast, but that was really the only other loss I had. Got a dragon dance on Gyarados after a scald Burn on Toucannon took him down, and Gyarados just swept from that. Damn, that Mandibuzz is tanky, though.
And then we get to the main event, Kukui... Aside from Lycanroc, this fight was so much easier than i was worried about. Lycanroc did set up stealth rocks, and he was faster than Pelipper, so he than one shot Pelipper afer i got Rain out. He went into Magnezone after Gyarados got a revenge kill, promting me to switch into Garchomp. Broke Sturdy with Crunch then went for a Dig to try and go for the knockout, but he switched into Primarina. Who then Hydro Vortexed me to 1 hp thanks to Tier 5 affection. And then i two shot him with Dig, because That's just how powerful Dig Garchomp is. He went for Ninetails next, but seeing how Garchomp had already killed a fairy with it, I kept him in and almost 2 shot Ninetails with dig once again thanks to Tier 5 Affection. Seriously, Last stand procced again on Ice Shard. Was nuts. From there, we went into Aegislash, who finished off Ninetails, Snorlax, and Magnezone. He Went into his Braviary last, and i thought it would be Poetic justice to one shot Braviary with Breakneck Blitz on Fearow. So of course, Braviary only takes like 70% damage from it. Finished him off with a Drill Peck.
God this post is long. Wish I could get this motivated to work on a light novel. Anyway! This run was fun, but damn do i need to get myself organized and scheduled if I want to try this for USUM. And I do, I really think doing a Wonder Trade run with this rule set is really a joy usually. I think I might want to edit the rule set to make type Diversity mandatory, just so i don't go through most the game with Water types as a third of my party. Plus I got to use a few pokemon I would not have used otherwise. Namely, Mudsdale is much better at sweeping than i thought she'd be. I should prolly find out what type is the least represented on Wonder Trade and start farming those to bring it up. I bet it's either Ghost or Steel. Be safe Persons.
And Remember! You can totally do a Wonder Trade run with your own rule set if you want. Maybe you want to open with a single team from wonder trade and use it throughout, or do less switches in general. I hold firm that switches in between pairs of Z-crystals works pretty well for Sun and Moon, and for ORAS and X/Y, I'm almost sure that doing the swap after each gym is the best. Let's hope whatever fusion of stuff USUM does makes it easier to plan this out.
