Okay, so for those of you that don't have a friend keeping track of gaming news for you, The Pokemon Company dropped a Pokemon Direct today at 10am. In it we got... Reveals for ports and expansions. Ultra Sun/Moon for the 3ds, revealing that the "3ds Family of systems" is still seeing support for at least another full year, Pokken Deluxew for the switch, complete with a roster update and a teaser for Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon, and Gold and silver moving to the 3ds Virtual Console. Oh, and they showed off the whitney fight in gen 2, because of course they did.

Now, I am happy that we have confirmed gen 7 expansions. I'm even happy that Pokken is getting a port to the switch, since it probably deserves it. However, This has lead me and my news tracking friend to suspect that Stars (fan speculation title, do not steal) will not be at E3 this year, and flat out may not be coming out at all. I'm curious to read what the 7 other people that show up here think about the news and maybe start a discussion for theories about the Fabled Switch Pokemon RPG. Oh, and no news regarding Rumble, which makes me sad, and brother wants a Pokemon Snap 2 for the switch, which I also think would be pretty cool.

Thoughts, Comments, concerns?

I think the lack of Crystal is a tad ridiculous considering they did Yellow, so they can't argue they're ignoring third versions.

This also happened.

That has been reported as a clerical error on Nintendo's part.

I'm hype for pokken.  I didn't buy it for Wii U so I'll probably get it on Switch.

Well, yeah...that's what they say.

Wouldn't want to eat at the 3DS sales. Similar to how Capcom announced MHXX for 3DS, launched it (in Japan), then announced the Switch version two months later.

A man can dream, at least. I'd rather have a game made for the Switch instead of a hypothetical late port, but heh.

In any case, as usual they give us very little to work with for the mainline games.

Might end up getting Pokken as well, since I didn't have a Wii U, but got a Switch.

the reason i was putting off buying a switch was because i didnt want breath of the wild and already had MK8 on Wii U but now with pokken (which i didnt have) coming for it, not to mention the other planned games for later this year, i may just pick one up

the s/m expansions are nice though i fear its just going to be b/w 2 all over again, same region with slightly different trainer fights and a slightly changed story. we'll have to wait and see, i'll be getting it either way.

and iirc didnt they release yellow shortly after r/b on VC? might do the same with crrystal, might not though since yellow had a legit claim to its own release with different trainer teams and some pokemon being easier to get, while crystal is literally just g/s 2.0 with no mandatory legendary encounter (was it mandatory in the original games? i've only played crystal and soulsilver) no big loss anyway since you can get everything from gen 2 across both games

this does lead me to believe without a doubt that gen 4 remakes are coming though since you now have gen 1 and 2 on VC with bank compatability, aa gen 3 remake, and everything from gen 5 readily available in x/y with a few stragglers in s/m but just like x/y omitted a bunch of gen 3 pokemon, s/m omitted a lot of gen 4 pokemon. plus empoleon being playable in Pokken DX only further solidifies it.

VC RBY launched on the same day (Feb 27th).

Crystal changed the dog trio structure so that you had those encounters with Suicune (ending with a regular battle, without the usual fleeing) and Eusine throughout the story, added the battle tower, introduced the female trainer, animated sprites and some other world/UI changes.

And yeah, I imagine we'll end up with a Gen 4 remake in the near future, though it'll probably get the same treatment as ORAS and come after Gen 8's first games.

Honestly, Pokemon Moon was the first Pokemon game I've ever played where I wasn't hooked. I don't think the game was worse than others - it was probably just not important to me at the time. In fact, it had a bunch of improvements and things that made the Pokemon series even better. That said, I can't say I'm bothered about Ultra Sun/Moon. I wonder if I'll be bothered about Gen VIII, whenever it comes out.

Pokken tournament on the other hand is great. I have never owned the game, but I did get a chance to play it at an expo, and it was super fun. Glad to hear it's coming out on the Switch.

I think there's hope for a Pokemon RPG. Nintendo have been showing recently that they want to create what the players want. I don't know if it'll come out in Gen VII, but they were probably testing the waters with Pokemon GO in terms of active playerbase.

Well, they just announced on the E3 Spotlight that Game Freak is developing a "Core Pokémon RPG" for Switch. "Could take more than a year".

Yeah, that's some good news. Sadly we don't even get an idea of what it will look like, but hopefully it's similar to Breath of the Wild, in terms of perspective and graphics.

I think swarms (where you get notified about rare pokemon appearing) would be such a good feature in an open world game. I hope you can see the pokemon in the wild, and not patches of grass.
