This Week's Contenders

Last week's theme was to create a card supporting an alternate win condition (except Exodia).

Spoiler

The Theme

This week's theme, chosen by J3tricson, is about the categories of Monster Cards!

Extra Deck monsters can also be Effect Monsters (as they usually are) and some even are Tuner Monsters. Now, we are crossing boundaries.

Create a card which involves treating a Ritual/Fusion/Synchro/Xyz monster as one of the other categories mentioned.

Have fun~

Are we simply creating a Synchro/Fusion/etc Monster and giving it a secondary typing of Tuner/Toon, etc?

Or are we doing the above, in addition to making literally any card that causes that to happen, like the new Assault Blackwing Synchros that are treated as Tuners?

Vibrant Soul

LIGHT Level 1 Fairy/Tuner 100/100

If this card is used as Material for a Ritual Summon, the Ritual Summoned monster is treated as a Tuner monster. If the Ritual Summoned monster is a non-Effect monster and is used as Material for a Summon from the Extra Deck, the Summoned monster is treated as a Tuner monster.

His line was only the last one, I added the Tuner example as a prelude.

Read the contest as this:

Create a card which involves treating a Ritual/Fusion/Synchro/Xyz monster as one of the other categories mentioned.

I'd guess he means make, say, a Ritual Monster treated as a Fusion Monster, or a Synchro Monster treated as an Xyz Monster, etc. *sigh* So little potential. >.>

Almost exactly what Rivershock said; only you're not limited to monsters. This was my example:
---

Fracture Fusion
Quick-Play Spell

Effect: Reveal from your Extra Deck 1 Gem-Knight Fusion monster card, and its materials from either your side of the field, hand, or Graveyard.
Special Summon that Gem-Knight Fusion monster card from your Extra Deck. It is treated as both a Fusion monster and an Xyz monster, and it gains the following effect:

- During each of your Standby Phases, detach 1 Xyz material from this card or destroy it.

Afterwards, attach the revealed Fusion Material Monsters to the Special Summoned monster as Xyz materials.
The monster Special Summoned this way is considered properly Fusion Summoned (it does not count as an Xyz Summon).
You can only activate 1 "Fracture Fusion" per turn.

---

If the criteria is too bland, make the card focusing on an existing archetype; like my example for Gem Knights.

---

My actual entry:

Digital Bug C-Bee-U

Light / Insect / Xyz / Effect

Rank 9

2800 ATK / 2400 DEF

2 or more Level 9 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters

You can only use the (1) and (2) effect of Digital Bug C-Bee-U once per turn.

(1) If you control at least 2 face-up Light Insect-type Xyz monsters with different names, you can tribute them to Special Summon this card from your Extra Deck. This card is then also treated as a Fusion Monster, and this is considered as if it was properly Fusion Summoned and Xyz Summoned.

(2) During either player's turn, you can activate one of the following effects:

- If this card is being treated as a Fusion monster: Target 1 face-up monster on the field and change it to face-up Defense Position.

- Target one face-up Defense Position monster on the field, attach it to this card as an Xyz material.

(3) If this card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz material from this card instead.

Chlorophyll Fusion

Continuous Spell

When this card is activated: Reveal 1 Plant-Type Xyz Monster in your Extra Deck; send, from your hand or field, 1 Plant-Type monster with a Level equal to that target's Rank and 1 other Plant-Type monster to the Graveyard, then Special Summon that target. It is also treated as a Fusion Monster. Once per turn: You can target 1 Plant-Type monster in your Graveyard; attach it to the monster Summoned by this card's effect. When that monster leaves the field: Destroy this card. When this face-up card is destroyed: Target 1 Plant-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

Reminder: You cannot Special Summon a Xyz Monster from the Graveyard if it hadn't been Xyz Summoned properly.

Insect Empress

EARTH/Level 7

INSECT/FUSION/EFFECT

"Insect Queen" + 1 or more Insect-Type monsters

Cannot be used as Fusion Material. Must first be Fusion Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by sending the above cards from your hand and/or either side of the field to the Graveyard. (You do not use "Polymerization".) This card is also treated as a Rank 7 Xyz monster. When this card is Fusion Summoned: Attach the monsters sent to the Graveyard to this card as Xyz Materials. While this card has an Xyz Material attached, all Insect-Type monsters you control gain 500 ATK. This card gains 200 ATK for each Xyz Material attached to it. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard while it has Xyz Material: You can Special Summon that monster to your side of the field at the end of the Battle Phase. It is treated as Insect-Type. If an Insect-Type monster(s) you control would be destroyed by battle or by card effect, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead of destroying 1 of those monsters.

ATK 3200/ DEF 3400

This has got to be the most confusing criteria yet. :joy:

But, hmm.. I think I have something.

--

Monochrome Striker

FIRE/7*

Warrior/Synchro/Effect

1500/1300

1 Tuner +  1 or more non-Tuner monster

This Synchro Summoned card is also treated as a Rank 7 Xyz Monster. While you control an Xyz Monster, your opponent cannot Special Summon during their Main Phase. While this card is in the Graveyard: You can banish 3 monsters from your Graveyard, except "Monochrome Striker"; Special Summon this card.

Bear in mind that it's not treated as an Xyz Monster if you revive it.

Evigishki Aberration

WATER/Sea Serpent/Ritual/Effect

3200/2750/Lv 9

You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Gishki" Ritual Spell Card. If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: Place that monster on the bottom of its owner's Deck. If this Ritual Summoned card would leave the field, place it in your Extra Deck as a Synchro Monster (requiring 1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Ritual Monsters) instead. If this card is Synchro Summoned: Send all other cards from both players' hands and fields to the Graveyard. Cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation.

I'm actually quite proud of how this turned out. :P

Holy crap, EeL's card comes out as a 4100 atk power monster that can negate effects.  That's totally balanced.  Rivershock's is also pretty insane, but I'm biased with Gishki so won't be sarcastic with it O:)

Yeah, I think Eel could at least make it a regular Fusion Summon (that is, using Polymerization etc. as usual).

Isn't Insect Queen enough of a burden? I was wondering about the negation effect and whether it should just be protection for itself. I will think about it.

Ritual of Synchronization

Spell/Ritual

This card can be used to ritual summon one monster, you must send 1 "tuner" and 1 "non-tuner" monster from your hand or deck to the graveyard who's combined levels equal that of the ritual monster you wish to summon. a monster summoned by this effect is treated as a Synchro monster. you may banish this card, 1 "Tuner" and 1 "non-tuner" monster from your graveyard along with one face-up "Synchro" monster you control to special summon one "Synchro" monster from your extra deck ignoring all summoning conditions.
