Z-Moves, thankfully, require a held item. So they're not quite as stupid as I thought they were. I just hope they're not replacing Megas, considering we haven't seen any sign of those yet. Aside from Z-Moves and Exeggutor, this news is all really great. Alolan Ninetales might very well be my new favourite Pokemon, and I really like Lurantis too. (Though I do find it odd it's not part Bug. Maybe just so it isn't doubly weak to Flying and Fire?)

I'll need some time to get used to Alolan forms and Z-Moves... At least there is a Z-Move for each type this time (unlike those starter move tutors).

Totem Pokémon is weird, but totally a thing we find in the anime.

And I hope they do a Alolan Onix made of crystal. >.>

tbh that  would more fit the design of steelix (though crystal would more fit onix's type maybe steel/rock?)

I'm referencing the anime Crystal Onix. >.>

And maybe it should be Rock/Water.

that just looks like an onix painted blue with the graphical capabilities of the 3DS i'd hope if they did that it would look like real crystal

Hmm, that would be interesting. I'd never even heard of Crystal Onix before. Probably another Ice type, given its supposed weakness to Fire attacks.

August 12th is when we get more information. Can't come soon enough.

I actually like the new exeggutor.  It was already a goofy pokemon, so they just turned it up to 11

Alolan Marowak is so awesome! /)>3<(\

I actually was trying to picture Alolan Meowth and Persian as Dark/Electric before my trip, now that Meowth looks underwhelming to me. =/

Alolan Raichu just increases my hype for Crystal Onix.

It's totally based on this Pikachu from the Orange League!

As cool as these Alolan pokemon are, I'd find it pretty weird if all Pokemon in the evolution tree don't have an Alolan form. It'd take time to get used to both Meowth and Alolan Meowth evolving into Persian.

Hopefully that's not the case, and there will be Alolan Exeggcute, Cubone and Persian.

I just can't wait to see the starter pokemons' evolutions, especially Popplio's, because I don't like the look of it. If it does become Water/Fairy like many rumours have stated, I'd be really inclined to choose it. The Fairy type is great.

We already know there isn't an Alolan Exeggcute. They showed footage of Exeggcute evolving into Alolan Exeggutor.

Urgh, I hate Alolan Raichu. I do like the tail-surfing thing. But its design aside from that is so, so ugly. Aside from that, the new stuff is OK. I kinda like Morelull, but it's also fairly forgettable.

There's been a fair bit of news that we haven't discussed yet. More new pokemon have been announced (going back about a week).

Today, we were shown Turtonator, a Fire/Dragon type. This is the only one aside from Reshiram and Mega Charizard X, so I'm really looking forward to it. It has a new move, Shell Trap, which seems to be somewhat like Spiky Shield, except I think he takes damage. Judging from the typing and the appearance, this is going to be a very bulky Pokemon, which is great. I like how it's turned its back to the enemy. That's a pretty uncommon, if not unique design. Doesn't have the best ability in Shell Armor though. Should have been Bulletproof from what I see, but at least you can always calculate the damage you're going to take.

I think metapod is the only other one that puts its back to the enemy

That rock isn't a rock but a sea cucumber. Wishiwashi is a small fish that makes a school of fish.

Oh hey, another one.

crabrawler.png

Crabrawler
fighting.gif

Crabrawler has a personality that really hates to lose, and it’s driven not only to aim for a higher position than its fellows in terms of social standing, but literally to aim for a higher position in the landscape. Perhaps as a result, it’s sometimes found clinging to tall people or to the walls of buildings! If you try to remove one against its will, you’ll be met with a sound punch. Crabrawler’s favorite food is Berries. It punches the trunks of trees to give the branches a good shake and knock any ripe Berries to the ground so it can feast! Many Crabrawler may gather around a tree, but only the one that emerges victorious in battle against all the others receives the privilege of eating the ripe Berries. Crabrawler uses its claws to protect its face and belly while getting in close to an opponent to throw punches. Its punches are powerful enough to split tree trunks! Crabrawler’s pincers are sometimes torn off during its bouts—and they are said to be delicious.

This was revealed today in the following video, which also officially reveals Palossand (the sandcastle) and Bewear's immensely adorable pre-evo, Stufful. It also shows a new ability that the sandcastles have - Water Compaction - which raises Defense by two stages instead of taking damage from a Water move.

Spoiler

Red Dolan.

Bulletproof might be a hidden ability.

Sandcastle... The basic stage was actually nice, but the evolution should have been more... "dread", as if it was in ruins. .-.

Sea cucumber is the best Water pokémon this gen so far, so cute! But I don't like it's ability being a better Aftermath. =/

Schooling fish makes no sense if it isn't wild. o_o

I found Crabrawler too weird and unnecessary at first, but now I'm OK with it (even not being Water).

Damn, I was going to post that, I only forgot to hit "post" because my FB newsfeed is on fire.

"Certain Pokémon have their own Z-Moves" - it was too balanced to be true. -_-

At least Snorlax is fun, hue.

Dark/Normal mustache Rattata... is fine.
