And so Gen VII begins.

There isn't much information at all, but we know it'll be out soon. What are you hoping to see in this game that hasn't been seen before?

Personally, even though it's unlikely they'll change it, I'm bored of the Grass/Fire/Water starters. Mainly because they never seem to make all three as powerful as each other. Imagine if we had Ghost/Ground/Dragon starters instead. Would be awesome. I just want to see something unique with the starters' secondary typing at least. They were definitely starting something with Gen VI.

Maybe this is a good time to resurrect that Create-A-Pokemon thread?

I'm happy that they have announced Sun and Moon, but i have questions about Z. On the starter note, I actually want Dark, Fighting, Psychic starters. Otherwise... I know i'm get it, but i don't know when. Prolly shortly after release.

I still hope it's just a spin-off. <.<

Not going to happen. We need the rock-paper-scissors cycle (like the example Gerdat said).

But I'm all for secondary typing diversity. =]

And yes, +1 on create-a-pokémon revival. =D

Well, there are plenty of rock-paper-scissors between types which could make for some nice possibilities. My favourites would probably be Electric/Water/Ground or Steel/Fairy/Fighting.

I wonder which mega-evolutions they'll make this time. Donphan and Honchkrow would be nice. Maybe Magmortar and Electivire too. Ahh well, that's for the Create-A-Pokemon thread.

I've never understood the people wanting fighting/dark/psychic starters.  Dark is immune to psychic, which is stupid to have vs a rival imo.  They are supposed to be opposing types which are not very effective, not immune all together.  I'd rather it be 3 different guys of the same type or an eevee.

That's the current pattern, yeah. But I don't think it would be terrible if they didn't continue it. Kids are cleverer than we give them credit for. If the secondary could help, then the immunity to dark wouldn't be too much of a problem.

Anyway I have a hunch they're going to make another Fire/Flying starter.

Eevee would be a logical choice, seeing as it can become almost any type when it evolves.

We also have a white Entei and blue Mega Salamence:

So, what do you think? Will Grass finally get the best starter again? Could we see Mega Cresselia? Mega Ho-Oh? What do you guys think about the starters? What type do you think they'll be?

I certainly hope we don't get more "Mega" Legendaries. I do like the Tropical setting, but i'm worried it'll end up feeling a lot like Hoenn. And although i love Hoenn, most people seem to hate it as much as I hate sinnoh (Not actually Sinnoh's fault, but oh well). The engine seems ripped right out of Alpha and Omega, though. I think the only thing we see is more dynamic slopes. Oh, and Grass Flying is terrible. Just ask Tropius, Aurous, and Abombasnow. I REALLY want Litten to evolve into Fire Dark, because Houndoom is awesome. And get more Evoled from Noivern then Blue Mega Salamence.

I actually find them all cute, and it didn't happen since gen 3.

Though I don't feel them as starters, mainly Litten.

The legendaries are a bit... weird, but I guess I'll get used to them.

Looking at the covers only, I'm leaning to Moon.

As for the current Sun/Moon-themed pokémon... I don't think they will get any special treatment, other than non-legendaries included on important trainers' teams.

I like Litten. and that's saying a lot since i don't like cats. but it's fire... and red/black. that's all I needed to see. it'll be used right alongside houndoom. but yeah that grass/flying starter is something. gets duel typing at the basic stage, and... AND a special grass version of ember/bubble

Now there's really absolutely nothing about the legendaries yet... but I've also see that the overworld viewpoint is even closer in. your avatar is looking fullsized instead of chibi or small sprite.

I don't know. I wanna find out more... but it doesn't matter much. I know I'm buying Sun (day 1) and I'm choosing fire (like ALWAYS)

As far as the first stage appearances are concerned the fire cat is the only one I don't really care for.  The grass owl looks pretty cool so I will probably go with it and hope to avoid ice attacks.

Massive news bomb today. Definitely needs a forum post to discuss it.

gumshoos.pngminior.pnglurantis.pngoricorio.png

New abilities come in the form of Dancer and Shields Down. These are used by Oricorio and Minior, respectively. Dancer copies any stat changes from dance moves, such as Dragon Dance or Quiver Dance (could see some use in Double/Triple Battles, maybe?) and Shields Down increases the Def of the pokemon and makes it immune to status effects, until the pokemon reaches 50% health, where it changes form.

Oricorio has four forms, one for each island of Alola. Each form has its own unique typing: Fire/Flying, Electric/Flying, Psychic/Flying and Ghost/Flying. All four of these typings are really awesome, but my favourite has to be its Baile Forme, the Fire/Flying one.

Solar Blade is a new move which seems to be the physical damage version of Solar Beam. Nice to see physical Grass-types getting some love.

Older pokemon are receiving some Alola forms - also known as the stuff of flipping dreams. These seem to be variants of existing pokemon, such as Shellos' and Gastrodon's east/west form, as opposed to mega evolutions or primal forms. Think SnowAgumon or MudFrigimon in Digimon - these seem to be similar to that. Especially because Alola Vulpix and Ninetales are Ice/Fairy, and Sandshrew and Sandslash are Ice/Steel. This is super cool. I definitely wasn't expecting pokemon to ever take this route.

Once per battle, you can use a special move called a Z-Move. It looks like there will be 18 Z-Moves, as each type has a move. For example, Electric's Z-Move is called Gigavolt Havoc and Fire's is called Inferno Overdrive. Also, Grass' is called Bloom Doom... lol. It's unanswered whether or not these moves take Physical/Special attacks into consideration. In order to use a Z-Move, you have to obtain Z-Crystals around the Alola Region (much like the Mega Stones of XY/ORAS). These Z-Crystals are fitted into your Z-Ring. If your pokemon holds a Z-Crystal of the same type of a move it learns, it can use a Z-Move. So apparently, giving a Fire Z-Crystal to a Litten that knows Ember should allow you to use Inferno Overdrive.

That seems to be it. I think Z-Moves will have some very interesting changes to the way the game is played. Imagine having a theoritcal pokemon with Hydro Pump, Fire Blast, Blizzard and Thunder Wave. By equipping an Electric Z-Crystal, you have three powerful moves and a status-inflicting move, that can, once per battle, be essentially turned into a fourth powerful move, for some extra coverage.

Thunder Wave, Sleep Powder, Toxic, Will-O-Wisp, Detect and Whirlwind come to mind as moves you could use this tactic with.

So what do you guys think? All this information was gathered from https://www.youtube....h?v=3AZHowhxM0U. And there's plenty more new things on there that I didn't mention. What's your favourite thing about Sun/Moon so far? I'm really liking Alola Ninetales.
