Weekly Create-A-Card Contest!

 

    Welcome to the weekly create-a-card contest!
    Congratulations to storyteller, who won the contest on 12/06 with Pot of Investment! Similar in nature to the Shard of Greed, this card allows, for the cost of -2'ing yourself for 2 turns, draw 3 cards, netting you a slow +1. While more costly than Shard, the Pot of Investment is less easily disrupted, being immune to destruction during the turns of waiting.
    For winning this contest, storyteller, you may pick 3 packs from pre-synchro era or 1 pack from pre-xyz era to add to your collection. Everyone else who entered, as thanks for participating, you may each also pick 1 pack from pre-synchro era to add to your collection.

The Theme

 
    This week's theme, chosen by RiverShock, is to make a Counter Trap card. Counters have long since been a part of the game, making their debut in Metal Raiders with the 3 basic removal for Trap, Spell, and Monsters in Seven Tools, Magic Jammer, and Horn of Heaven, as well as the catch-all Swiss army knife that was the Solemn Judgment, which later on became a series that includes all the most oft used Counter Traps in their days, including Solemn Waring now Solemn Notice. They've also been responsible for the rising of several decks, being key players in such decks known as Permission decks, as well as being the key factors in a series of fairies known as Counter Fairies.

Literal Counter

Trap/Counter

When a Spell or Trap card would be activated: Negate the activation and effect and destroy that card. This card remain's Face-Up on the field and gains 1 Counter during each of your end phases. as long as this card remains face-up on the field Negate the effects of the Card Type (spell or trap) that this card initially negated (except this card). Destroy this card with 3 or more Counters on it.

Counter trap
When a spell, trap, or effect monster's effect is activated: change the effect of that card to "Your opponent discards a card from their hand. (Their choice)", then destroy that card.

I did notice, if you use my card against a continuous s/t, the effect would actually disappear. But otherwise, it'll be great

OMG, did the power creep already come to the point of free negation on counter traps?

If you control a "Fire King" monster when a Spell/Trap Card is activated: Negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card and 1 monster you control.

The other option i had was to make you discard your whole hand (min. 1). Or do you mean that it didn't make you pay 1000lp?

When your opponent activates a Spell Card: Send 1 Zombie-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard for every card in your opponent's hand; negate the activation and destroy that card.

So that'd basically only work with trap monsters?

 

Trap monsters and Pseudo-Trap monsters, like Burgesstoma, Phantom Knights, and a few other cards (a Monarch comes to mind). For the Pseudos, this sets you up to summon another one. Uria, Mask of Darkness, and Five Brothers Explosion are possible combo material for regular Trap Monsters, off the top of my head.

Order of the Snake Deity

Trap/Counter

When your opponent activates a monster effect: Send 1 "Venom" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. During your Main Phase, except during the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Venom" card, "Snake Deity" card, "Vennominon the King of Poisonous Snakes" or "Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes" from your Deck to your hand, except "Order of the Snake Deity".

Bug Bite!

Trap Card/Counter

When a monster would be Summoned, OR a Spell/Trap Card is activated: Banish 3 Insect-Type monsters from your Deck and/or Graveyard; negate the Summon or activation, and if you do, destroy that card. You can only activate 1 "Bug Bite!" per turn. (You must have an Insect-Type monster in your Graveyard to activate this card.)
