Weekly Create-A-Card Contest!

Welcome to the weekly create-a-card contest!
Congratulations to Exarion, who won the contest on 10/18 with Heart-Eater Ammit! This monster, which can be Fusion Summoned with any two non-Effect monsters, serves as something of a Secret Village of Spellcasters, except it deals with monsters. The interesting aspect of this monster is that, the weaker a Normal Monster you control, the harder it is for your opponent to deal with, since it blows up monsters your opponents Summon that are stronger than a Normal Monster you control!
For winning this contest, Exarion, you may pick 3 packs from pre-synchro era or 1 pack from pre-xyz era to add to your collection. Stomach, Eel, Jesse, TLM-JDS, bobandjim, Warrain, and RiverShock, as thanks for participating, you may each also pick 1 pack from pre-synchro era to add to your collection.

The Rules

  • Each member may submit up to one card each week.
  • Each round of the contest will last for one week.
  • The cards entered in a previous week's contest will be placed in a poll during the new week's contest.
  • Comments on the cards up for voting are encouraged, but not required
  • The winner of a round gets to decide the next open theme for the contest.
  • Be creative!

This Week's Contenders

Last week's theme was "Make a IRL version of an Anime-only card".

Spoiler

The Theme

This week's theme, chosen by Eel, is stand-alone cards. While a good portion of the game relies on Archetypes, there are quite a few cards in the game that pretty much stand alone do their own thing. These may be things as useless as Gyakutennno Megami or potential combo cards like Gallix the Star Beast.

Make a card that supports such a standalone card.

Stormy Snowfield

Spell/Continuous

You can Set Spell/Trap cards and activate Set Spell/Trap cards ignoring the effects of any face-up card that would prevent this.

Thunder-type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle.

The theme means like: Make a card that would support the stand alone card (like Mystical Elf or Uraby or something). Like this:

Mystical Elf Helper, effect: Mystical Elf cannot be destroyed while this is in the Graveyard.

just because it dosent specifically mention the intended monster dosent mean it's not following the theme, this way it makes the card more viable. i mean who would really play a card that supports only one specific monster?

Well, given the huge selection of Dark Magician, Red Eyes, and Blue Eyes support, someone must have thought that there was a demand for them...

those specific cards are fine since they have a whole series of cards to support them but if the purpose is to make a card that supports an individual card (and as of press time there are no other support cards) then it's better to make stuff that supports their specific abilities while also being generic enough to be viable in more than one way.

My point is that they didn't have a whole series of cards to support them to begin with.

But even in those times, stuff like Thousand Knives existed.

my point is my card fits the criteria, name me one other monster that first effect could apply to.

I agree with Stomach in this issue, specific-card support sounds a bit lame. Even those examples are getting less common because "Blue-Eyes" and "Red-Eyes" are now archetypes and the Level 7 Spellcaster-Type gets support as a whole. And obviously, those 3 examples got specific support just because of the anime...

On an unrelated note: Story, use control+shift+V so you paste the plain text without messing with the formatting. ;)

It was two non-Effect Fusion Monsters. Makes the card a bit more difficult to summon. *cough*

(will input my card later)

Yay for reading -.-

Though that actually makes it more reasonable, since I felt that the second effect might be a bit much.

That helps a lot. Thanks.

Dark Simorgh, Chow Len the Prophet, Soul of Silver Mountain, Sergent Electro, Xing Zhen Hu, etc.

Though admittedly it would be hosing them rather than supporting them.

It probably doesn't help that Denko Sekka's effect doesn't work while you control it.

as far as i can see it does

Denko sekka won't apply if you control SET cards, i see nothing about continuous (aka face-up) cards

I see.

it still seems marginally weird that you're going to end up letting the effect go temporarily by setting cards,

but that gets into personal opinions rather than criteria qualification.

Whatever the case, you should probably mention the name of the card you're supporting in your original post.

I do wish you'd go by the wishes of the criteria maker, though.

Stomach's card makes sense only for continuous trap cards: set them on your turn (after your Battle Phase so you don't fear opponent's set traps), activate them on opponent's turn so they can't set.

In spite of my previous post, I'll support a monster directly as Eel stated. >.>

Field of Roses

Continuous Spell

When this card is activated: You can add 1 "Rosaria, the Stately Fallen Angel" from your Deck to your hand. If a Plant-Type monster(s) is banished: Target 1 card on the field; destroy it. When this card is destroyed: You can target 1 of your banished Plant-Type monsters; Special Summon it.

Fangs of Wanghu

Trap Card

Activate 1 or both of these effects (simultaneously).
● You can target 1 face-up monster on the field; switch its current ATK and DEF. This ATK and DEF change lasts until the end of this turn.
● Target 1 face-up "King Tiger Wanghu" you control; equip this card to that target. It gains 300 ATK. If it destroys a monster(s), banish it, then place 1 Emperor Counter on a face-up "King Tiger Wanghu" you control. Monsters your opponent controls lose 300 ATK for each Emperor Counter on the field.

Thief's Tool Kit
Spell - Equip
Equip only to "Great Phantom Thief". It can attack your opponent directly. If the equipped monster attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. Once per turn: You can declare 1 card name; if that card is in your opponent's hand, add 1 copy of it from their hand to your hand, otherwise you lose 1000 LP.
