Ten years ago today I registered on XC to post a thread in the Duel Request forum back when that was a thing. Crazy, eh? I figured I should post this in a forum that means something more to me than the silly Off-Topic forum, but since I already have a topic in Groups here also makes sense! (I kid)

My original fanfic, Tales of Arcadia, was something I spent a lot of time on and even more time trying to get my friends to read the few times I released anything new. I fear reading it now, since it was very much a product for and by 14 year-old Yusuke.

I feel partially responsible for kicking off the fad of user-insert fics, as I was a major sponsor of GothicBlue's (I think at this point her name was Amaryllis) Battle Royale fic--I even wrote a terrible guest chapter! Not that she needed my support, of course.

My newest fic, Eternal Bemusement, is a really cool project that I wish had gotten further off the ground, but I think I'm done with Persona 3 for a very long time unless a crazy person starts regularly speedrunning it. For the sake of this theoretical person's sanity, I hope that never happens.

In honor of the occasion, here's a poem that I think reflects something we've all felt as writers:

empty hourglass in the sand

have you ever felt something so powerful
that you had to share it with the world
rush to write it down, pen and pad unfurled
and all that you vomit is complete shit

the empty words roll on
like an hourglass in the sand
surrounded by their hopes in dreams
and they only want to reprimand themselves
for being such fsilures

but that's what hopes and dreams are for
i don't fear the void any more
than i fear my own failure to express
and even this does not demand redress

for even with my fancy words
obscure nouns, poignant adjectives and verbs
the feeling is lost--meaning falls off
and even the rhyme is uncomfortable

my verse gets freer--just say what you want to say you fool there's no need for all this nonsense
words are just a tool that work because you give a shit
but isn't there more to it?

i don't mean to preach but if I can't even reach myself
why bother

Thanks for being there, XC. <3

With gratitude and grace,--and all other good things which I lack--congratulations.
