Gren's Thoughts » Ring of Valkas will speed up this guys counter generation, but for only a R that takes a little time to set up, it's not terrible by any means. Proliferate will love this guy, however.

This card is very fun. I like him as a combo piece with things like Disciple of Bolas, Uvenwald Trackers, Fling, Garruk etc. Basically, it will be hard to reliable get him online as an attacker -especially if drawn late- but he is great as a high powered creature that only cost you 1 mana and has a bunch of cool combo options.
