So guys, it's going to be that special time soon, when all the broken decks come together for The Gathering and take part in the age-old battle of head-cleaving to find out which deck is the most broken (or, in the case of last year, which player can cheat like a pro).

We've had several new decks appear since last year (Inzektors, Hieratics, Wind-Ups, Dino Rabbits, Chaos Dragons) , and really only one deck has managed to stick around since last year (Six Samurais), while the once-dismissed Dark Worlds have made the jump into a competitive setting. Not to mention, we have the Atlanteans, big Laval support, and another Six Samurai coming soon enough.

The game has vastly changed too. Synchros once ruled the Extra Deck, yet now are almost entirely replaced by the new Xyz monsters. Effect monsters are the key to victory. Loops, for some reason, have gone unchecked by Konami. Black Luster Soldier still ain't banned, and Trishula did get the axe. wtf, amirite?

Now, the question is: Which deck will come out on top in the World Championship?

Will one of the contenders we've been expecting for months clinch it?

Or, will a late entry take it, like last year?

Simply, what are your predictions, and reasons for those predictions, on which deck will come out on top?

I think either Inzektors, Hieratics, Wind-Ups, Dino Rabbits, Chaos Dragons, or Toons will win. Can't be certain about those first five, though.

^ This, though I'd personally love to see HEROs win it all.

That's a paradox b/c if they stacked the best then they wouldn't get caught to receive warnings. :P

well i'd like to see a warrior deck make a run of it but that's probably too much to ask, my bet is on inzectors or hiratics as both of them are still wtf broken with little to no powerloss from prio and such

I'm personally pulling for Hieratics at the moment, as they caught my eye right away. I mean, even if Atum gets negated, Gaia can sub in for him. The deck generally dies to D-Fissure/Macro, Mask of Restrict, and Light-Imprisoning Mirror. The good thing is that the last 2 are never used, on the fact that no other top decks are weak to them. And, Fissure and Macro hurt all of the other topdecks, maybe a little less than Hieratics, but still very much so.

Dark Worlds are also a personal favorite, in that they're basically the Six Samurais of this year. I like how the deck has truly evolved and I like how it targets both the opponent's hand and field simultaneously. Sadly, they die horribly to Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror, which, unlike it's Light counterpart, IS regularly Sided. Also, it has a consistency issue that, while not too frequent, will undoubtedly cause it to lose a few games it should win.

Chaos Dragons I think also have potential to win. Not as much as the above two, but I do like the deck. Powerhouses everywhere, and the ability to add cards with Wyvern. The deck has a lot of explosive potential, and is too divided in it's Attributes for Shadow-Mirror to completely cripple it, though Veiler damages a lot of it's REDMD plays. It also has the ability to overpower any deck in sheer strength, and, if it can set up Pulsar+REDMD, is near impossible to beat. However, it also suffers from the above consistency issue. Hence, I think Hieratics have a better chance than the other two, but I won't at all be disappointed if any of these win.

Six Samurai I wouldn't mind winning, but I honestly doubt if they can compete as much as last year, as Shadow Shien isn't enough to put them on top. Excalibur might be a nice plus, but it won't be released by then.

IMHO, it'll come down to Inzektors vs Hieratics, possibly an Inzektor mirror.

Inzektors are EXTREMELY consistent. Hieratics are very, very explosive. Hence, I think those two will come out as the top builds on worlds.

Though, the real problem is that Worlds have their very own Banlist. You can't really predict what's gonna top because Konami can decide to derp it and just break the top decks without any warning. Then again, there are several factors to consider.

Inzektors don't suffer from the TCG to OCG transition and viceversa, but Hieratics do. Losing Gustaph is a REALLY big blow to Hieratics. The same way, HERO builds lose Escuridao, while Dino Rabbit loses Tour Guides and Verz Laggia loses the Verz component. Samurai are untouched really, but Rai-Oh, Pachy and some way to stop Grandmaster pretty much stops them. Dark Worlds don't really lose anything, but Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror is rather common, and D.D. Crow is still popular. Chaos Dragons are easy to stop, suffer too much from backrow hate and, if you're smart, screwing the Pulsar + REDMD is really easy. Also they get horrible hands every now and then.

The fact that they don't mind being OCG or TCG is what makes me think Inzektors will take the gold. Unless the special banlist touches Dragonfly, then Inzektors are pretty much unplayable. Then it'd be a matter of who derps better on turn 1-3 really xD

I have to agree with Sho here. Trying to predict worlds is extremely difficult, as the card pool narrows down to only what the OCG and TCG shares, which dramatically changes both metas. Let's try to break this down a bit further:

The following cards from the TCG woud not be permitted:
Spoiler

Based off of this list alone, the following decks are ruled out:
Wind-Ups
Dark Worlds
Dino Rabbit
Evols
Lancer Frogs
TG Stun (because of Sabre Tiger)
"Floater Beat" (Wind-Up Rabbit, Sabre Tiger, and Tengu)

There are likely more, but these are the ones that have seen success recently. I'm not even going to touch the OCG-only cards.

Decks that aren't touched or could become more powerful at Worlds:
Inzektors
Chaos Dragons
Disaster Dragon
Final Countdown
Chain Burn
Gadgets
Gravekeepers
???

I honestly believe that Hieratics won't do well simply due to the lack of Gustaph Max. I don't think they have the consistency to make it through that large of a tournament.

Dark World still somewhat in the running! All they lose is latinum, which isnt much considering the rest of the cards.

Likely loseing Tour Guide is going to majorly hurt a majority of players going into this.

Incorrect.

Tour Guide is one of the biggest enablers for Dark World. The fact that it searches Broww helps to enable so many options as well as keep Grapha on the field, plus the versatility of going into a rank 3 if needed just makes it ridiculous. It also helps to feed Gates extremely well. Dark World is easily the deck that uses Tour Guide to its fullest potential, and it takes a HUGE performance hit without it.

Although, to be fair, OCG Dark Worlds are Trance Dark Worlds and they still perform fine.

But Tour Guide drops their speed quite a lot. While I wouldn't be surprised if I see Dark Worlds in the tournament, I seriously doubt it can compete with other builds that are basically untouched.

Gravekeepers are actually an interesting pick, since they force Inzektors to equip from their hand always and have a ridiculous base ATK and DEF of 2000 in most practical situations, which make them interesting contenders.

Anyways, the biggest problem is that we don't know the Worlds banlist, as it's not revealed until just before the tournament is to be held. It's a true test of skill, as it forces players to build brand-new decks for the tournament.

Am I the only one that was disappointed when they realized this wasn't about an announcement of the next WC Video Game?
