Gren's Thoughts » Out of all the green cards with 1 CMC, this is the only one I liked. Flying and Haste as a 2/1  can make him a good shock trooper, but then there is that Echo. That's the only drawback really, but Green has good mana generators. I like this card just cause I can deal 2 for 1.

I wouldn't have picked this purely because you can't play it on turn 1... Unlike all of the other choices. It is a good card though.

This card is from Planar Chaos. The entire set was designed to flip the color wheel on it's end. We have a White Counterspell, a black Wrath of God, Green flying creatures, etc.

Except.. you can play it on turn 1, and there aren't a whole lot of good reasons not to if you're running it at all.

The other 29 monogreen creatures with Flying don't count?

The other 29 monogreen creatures with flying are mostly dragons. If you play Uktabi Drake on turn 1, then it's just a green version of Shock at a player's face. It can't survive turn 2. If you play a ramp creature turn 1, then you can play it turn 2 if you accept losing your turn 3.

Birds of Paradise > Uktabi Drake in terms of 1 drops for Green.

Actually, BoP turn 1 into a turn 2 Uktabi Drake is pretty decent. That gives you the mana to actually keep the Drake alive on turn 3.

Actually... the vast majority are NOT dragons. In fact, only one of them is a dragon, Jugan, The Rising Star.

If you're playing green, doing 2 damage turn one and losing a creature is a hell of a lot more useful than skipping your 3rd turn.

2 drop turn 1 doesn't make sense... 2 drop is a card you play on Turn 2. Not a card with 2 power.

The difference between 2 drop and 2 CMC is that if you play Birds turn 1, a 3 CMC card is also a potential 2 drop.

Btw.. n00bdragon, how do you feel about Scythe Tiger? It does have a real drawback.. but its P/T is better than 2/2 and it also has Shroud.

Personally, I like Scythe Tiger. I'm just not about to pretend it's even in the same league as Goblin Guide, Diregraf Ghoul, Phantasmal Bear, and Isamaru.
