Gren's Thoughts » So, it was the choice between Isamaru and this guy. I like Isamaru cause it's a fucking 2/1 dog that will tear your face apart, but it's legendary, and you can only put him out on the field one at a time. However, this guy is Isamaru tenfold. Why? It's a human and it's a soldier, which means soldier and human boosting cards will make this guy an even greater threat with the addition of having FOUR of him out. Yeah, he's a weenie staple. Hell, he's a white staple.

I had to face three of these guys last week when she had three Honor of the Pure and I was colorfucked. More potent than you might think.

I was curious whether you would go for this guy or Isamaru, Hound of Konda. I think Elite Vanguard is probably the more iconic choice considering that he has been legal in more formats more often and that it's a simple staple card you can run 4x without any other special considerations like Isamaru.

I'm expecting Phantasmal Bear for blue and Diegraf Ghoul for black. Green is surprisingly trickier, especially when you realize that it's supposed to be the color of efficiently costed vanilla creatures. I suppose Nettle Sentinel would work, and Jungle Lion is an option. Neither is amazing though.

Updated. I wanted to do Isamaru, I really did. But I've done him in the past... and this guy is just better in every aspect.

Also, next weeks theme has something to do with Goblin Guide's effect.

Nice.  And he's uncommon too, so you're likely going to find four of him at a .50 uncommon pile somewhere.
