Playing Evols recently has really opened up my views on Laggia vs. Dolkka.

Most people play Laggia first because it's the safe bet when you don't know what you're up against.

Against Dark World, I've used Dolkka more often than Laggia, because Dolkka can negate graveyard effects. It can stop all of the DW effects, and it can stop 2 of them! Whereas Laggia can only negate one attempt at a discard outlet. It's arguable which is the better play, as Laggia can help clog the hands by negating the discard outlets and it can stop the inherent special summon of Grapha from the grave, but Dolkka prevents the searches, destruction effects, and can stop multiples of them, but it doesn't prevent Grapha from hitting the grave at all (allowing him to revive himself later) and it doesn't stop the discard outlets from being activated (especially Gates). They both have their ups and downs.

Laggia vs Dolkka is always prediction IMO. That's why they're kind of hard to master, as you need really good understanding of what's happening in that duel.

He made a few interesting choices in his deck, but overall... It's pretty solid.

The sad fact about DW?  And the reason why I don't run it?  50-60% of the Deck tends to be... almost pointless.  If you get your Gates and Snowws in line, your Grapha's come easy... and from then, its just keep the pressure till you win.   But, it also gives a nice side effect of, there is MORE freedom in the deck than most people realize.  Snoww, Grapha, Gates, the standard Spell line up, perhaps Tour Guide, and you're good.  The rest is all able to simply be moved around and adjusted via the side deck to tackle what might come up.  Versatility is good... yet I guess since my biggest weakness is proper side deck skills, thats why I fail at the new gen of Dark World lol

I think his plan was that by running 1 of each, even if he didn't know what he would get in his hand he would have somethhing to cover the situation. Its probably the same idea with the side, by outing 1 of each he would have many more bases covered, and because many of the cards probably could help in similar matchup (for example if three of the cards in his side would help his matchup against one deck, such as hero beat, while three in the main deck were someewhat ineffective he could swap those) and if he drew any of them it would help his duel. Thus he covered a broad range while at the same time still having the ability to adjust several cards to better his matchup.

Dark Worlds often have a good reason to run 1-ofs that cover specific situations. The reason is that they tend to draw their entire deck. 1-ofs seem silly and inconsistent when you are only seeing 25% of your deck each game, but when you see 50-75% of your deck in an average game, you are almost always able to draw out the answer you need with a proper selection of 1-ofs.

I got 2 DW structure decks when they came out. I could see a DW deck being a championship victor. The deck can swarm or clear a field whenever you need it to.
