I want to download and install YVD but before that I have a few questions:
1) How big is it (IE: how much of my internet Data will the download + any updates use)?
2) Is it possible to play it OFFLINE - across a Lan. I have a very restrictive monthly cap.
3) How up-to-date is the Banlist and Cardlist?
Depending on the size I may have to wait until the 1st of april to download - and depending on whether or not I can play offline would ultimately affect how often I can play.
I would really appreciate if someone would shed some light.
Thanks.
Couple of YVD questions:

2. I believe so, but I don't use it that much, and the only way I play is online.
3. We currently haven't updated to the newest banlist, but the cards themselves are up to date up through ORCS.

To expound on that a little bit:
1. The program itself with all folders is about 15 MB, 14.5 to be exact.
2. I believe so, but I don't use it that much, and the only way I play is online.
3. We currently haven't updated to the newest banlist, but the cards themselves are up to date up through ORCS.
1.) The *.MSI installer is 7MB and the *.ZIP folder is 12.1MB. However, I would not suggest using the installation package, even though it is smaller and you have a data cap, if you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 - they hate that installers for some reason (also, if that is the case, be sure to unzip the folder in My Documents or your Desktop {Or anywhere else that does not have Write Protections). You will also need to download the executable (direct download link), because it's currently not being included in the *.ZIP folder for some reason (if you post again, I'll check it again to see if it's updated and let you know, I know bandwidth is precious).
There are also image packs that can ba found here (the image pack on the front pack only goes to ABPF, if my memory serves me correctly) and the size just depends on the pack, I'm sure if you asked there, they would be more than happy to let you know how large each one is. They also have an updated Token set, which is not needed, but a nice perk!
2.) Yes. You'll want use the IP Duel function and use your Internal IP Address (you can figure that out by doing the following: Start > Run > Type 'cmd' then press enter > When the window loads type "ipconfig" and press enter. It should display in the information there.).
3) As kakashi mentioned, the banlist is not currently up-to-date, however, when you open YVD, directly where the banlist is posted, there is a drop down menu that says "Advanced" by default, and you can change that to "No List" and manually enforce the new banlist (with some willpower
).
Hopefully some of YVD's current drawbacks will not persuade you to ignore our great community and software! If you have any more questions or need some clarification - feel free to ask!

THAT IS AWESOME! - Thanks.
But how on earth is it only 15mb?? That must be some kind of modern miracle of science or something equally as amazing, because I was expecting something around 1gb or more with all the images and other things involved.
Thanks again.
-EDIT-
About the Ban list: It may be a good idea to allow players to create their own custom lists - that way they can update the list manually if they want.
Or even possibly create their own metagame by using an entirely new list .
Of course I dont know the repurcussions of using this online, or if it can be enforced correctly.
But it may be worth considering.

That has certainly been suggested before, the thing is though, with "No List" being an option (and the fact you can change your banlist options at any time), there is no real reason to have this functionality. This is because, a person playing Advanced can play a person playing No List, same a player playing Traditional can play someone playing Advanced. There is no safety for this feature. That being said, there probably should be, and in which case, this would be a fantastic idea. There's tons of CCGers out there and I know it's something they've been wanting for a long time!
For the record, 15MB covered roughly half the images (it might be closer to one-third now, actually)? The rest can be found in the Community Image Blog I linked above. That being said, the images are not the huge, so they don't take up a lot of disk space. :]
Also, I'm glad we were able to help you out. It's always good to see new faces. (:
