Time Wizard
Attrib: Light
Type: Spellcaster/Effect
Level:2
Atk: 500
Def: 400
Toss a coin and call it. If you call it right, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field. If you call it wrong, destroy all monsters on your side of the field, and you lose Life Points equal to half the total ATK of the destroyed monsters. You can only use this effect once per turn, during your Main Phase.

Notable Rulings:

-Starlight Road: "Starlight Road" cannot be Chained to the activation of effects like that of "Dark Master - Zorc" or "Time Wizard", since it is unknown whether or not the effect will destroy two cards on your side of the field.

Usually I don't comment on CoTD's but when I saw this one posted, I just had to. This was always my favorite card and was one of the first cards I owned IRL back in the day. I felt so good pulling this after seeing Joey use it on the show. Good times.

There are some cards IIRC that allow you to redo coin flips if you want which could really benefit this midget-darkhole. If the attack was higher, say towards Tribe-Infecting Virus range, then it would be more valuable, but it requires too much back row support as is. The best benefit this card has is that because the effect is uncertain, it can get around Starlight Roads.

One of my favorites and I had to comment. Also if you look at it now, without knowing anything about Time Wizard beforehand and just seeing the picture, you would almost think it was a Wind-Up.

It's best to special summon this and have it be the only monster on the field before you use it's effect. Second coin toss helps this card out greatly.

It doesn't matter what you get as long as you call it right... Just saying. Now we do have a card that works when you call a coin toss correctly, but yeah. Some things just don't really work well enough for real, unless you run a deck that would benefit from you desiring your own cards... like crystal beasts and scrap. More for crystal though.

3/5 cause you do have to guess and that's only a 50/50 chance

This guy is also a fusion material for one of the best secret rares of all time - THOUSAND DRAGON!!!  That guy's so amazing that he was secret rare in the same set solemn judgment (not limited for a long time after this set) and mirror force were ultra rares, and witch of the black forest was a normal rare (pft obviously not an op card at all).  Heavy storm was a super rare in metal raiders so it's also go nothing on thousand dragon.

Yay, retro cards! I love Time Wizard's art and when I saw a gold one in real life, I went crazy and wanted it so badly!

Okay, so a late review on this card. Simply put, this card has lots of potential, even today. Most people doesn't seems to like random effects, but the drawback for missing the flip is far more pointless than one should think - unless you are a complete idiot, you'll never activate this if you could lose something big.
But the best reason to run this is a little card called Apprentice Magician - you could go Old Vindictive to destroy 1 or you could go Time Wizard to Raigeki the field... and dropping a LIGHT guy to the Grave to tag along with Apprentice for Chaos shenanigans. It also works wonders with Battle Fader... either stop a game-winning OTK and follow with this fella, or keep a backup plan once Time Wizard fails. Win-win if you ask me.

And yes, Wells does points out a nice point here: Starlight can't do squat against this. Fun times indeed.

EFF: 6/10
ART: 8/10 (Adorable clock mage... with a mustache to boot!)
