Yeah, in my free time, I get bored. I've heard it's quite a common illness.

I just recolour pictures, usually of yugioh cards, and resize them to a suitable avatar size, which is why I change mine so often.

And I make custom avatars too. I suppose with all this XCBux I could open a shop, but I'm not sure if that's allowed yet, so just ask in the "POST ALL SIG AND AVATAR REQUESTS HERE!!" thread.

Anyway, here are some of my (basic, but hopefully effective) works.

I was messing around on Photoshop earlier. Made some sort of club room, and then accidentally made it gold, which I thought looked awesome so I saved that too.

And then I made some random flicky thing, which was cool.

Lol, couldn't have been more vague if you tried.

What kind of sig? Wide? Square? What do you want on it? Text? The Rock? Haha let me know.

He wants you to make him into a sig. So it needs to have the image of a sun, and say XC Champion somewhere. I'd use the dimensions of his current sig to start with.

Right, well, I have no idea what you wanted. So here's the Rock in the sun.

Ahahaha, it's funny coming back here after four years. But like, what's the point in making a new thread. I've still got this one.

Anyway, so I was trying to improve my Adobe Illustrator prowess, including the one thing on Photoshop I've avoided learning for ages: the Pen Tool. I did some work for my Dad which required me to learn both the Pen Tool and vector images in general, and now that I've got a little bit of experience, I figured I'd have a bit of fun.

So I figured I'd use the Pen Tool to make a vector image of one of the coolest Pokemon, and make it my own by only using a minimal amount of colour.

Honchkrow%20Small.png

I'm sure most of you know what a vector image is, but just in case you don't, it's like a regular image, except you can keep zooming in and the photo loses no quality whatsoever. You can try it with this one. Notice how if you zoom in here, the picture loses quality. That's because the one I've posted here is a .png. Click here to view the .svg file. I've wanted to work with vectors for years now, but clearly only recently got around to it.

So yeah, my first proper go at using the pen tool, and making a vector. Feeling pretty good :D

So, I felt like popping another one out. In this one I focused more on the brush strokes, now that I'm getting a little better.

If you zoom into the face, you can see where I changed from using a uniform thickness for lines, and instead faded from thick to thin.

You can view it here. It'll probably take a few seconds to load, as I had to compress it.

That's pretty nice!

But I still don't know how to see the magic of vectors.

Unless I choose to edit on GIMP, so I can choose any size, which is magic already~

Thanks :smilee: Can you guess which member of XC I was inspired by to draw pokemon?

What do you mean by 'don't know how to see the magic of vectors'? Is it not showing up properly?

Aww  :blushy:

I meant the zooming. But I forgot I can zoom with browsers, and there you go, now I see it directly.

I can definitely have a go, sure.

If you let me know the dimensions and what you want included in it, I'll give it a shot. But no promises that you'll like it.

Should have replied earlier, but never mind. Can't change that now.

Generally, I'm never free. If I have a few moments, I'll just do what I feel like doing before going back to work. And also, I'm a lot less creative if there are any expectations, so it'd be better if I give it a shot in my own time, following detailed guidelines that you set.

So what I'm trying to say - but possibly failing at - is I'd prefer if you just give some guidelines to follow, some ideas that you may have that I can look to bounce off.

Oh, and I should mention that when I say "in my own time", it'd still be within a few days.

Had a go at redrawing one of my more recent favourite pokemon: Mega Diancie.

I didn't realise just how detailed this guy (girl) was until I had a go. Worth it though. Click here to view the .svg.

Oh wow, thanks man! That's really nice of you.

I don't think what I'm doing warrants professional work though, I'm just tracing over the Ken Sugimori artworks. I don't actually have a clue how to draw, so all I can do is trace.

I wish I could draw (with pencil or photoshop) things in different angles. Would be able to create so many cool scenes, but unfortunately, Ken Sugimori art it is.
