Just recently noticed that the identify command for channels has completely disappeared! o.o

This is what is showing:

From ChanServ *Unknown command identify #channel password. "/msg ChanServ HELP" for help.

This isn't normal.... :S

Help?

EDIT: Just checked and few other commands for ChanServ aren't working either like entry message etc.

DOUBLE EDIT: Another wild bug has appeared!

There has been a services upgrade.

Channels no longer have founder passwords so identify doesn't exist. Instead use the new QOP system. This is exact same as SOP, AOP, HOP, VOP but for auto-owner instead.

Also entrymsg is founder only and is done with /cs entrymsg

Don't really see the point of the upgrade if it removes a feature. Not really sure what you're referring to as the new qop system but if you mean the ! commands then sadly they seem to be broken too. Most users aren't able to use em from what I observed. And yeah on few channels the modes/statuses aren't sticking, like in my case everytime I enter a channel, another op/qop would be needed to give me my status back despite the fact that I'm supposed to be on their lists by default. And to make it weirder, even without op/qop I still am somehow able to edit their topics! O.o

Whatever you guys did to the services, it ain't working very well.

It just mean topiclock needs turned back on.
And QOP is auto-owner (+qo) when you join a channel. Its the owner equivelant to SOP (+ao) and works perfectly fine.
The different ! commands are restricted so that users have to have the correct level to actually use them.

As another note, services won't give you any status you already have in the channel (ie if you have Op@ and type !op it wont do it)

As for not sticking, get them to re-add you to the access list.

There are some glitches because I did upgrade to a new major version, so some settings were likely lost when everything was transferred over.

Have a look at the /cs help and /ns help commands in particular. It has much more help and detail.

As I stated I will be completely redoing the FAQ to match the new services. If I'd had time it woulda been done before the upgrade

Ok I think I figured out the cause of the problem.....(sorta)

The ! commands I guess work on certain levels of access and require more detail when using. But as to why my status wasn't sticking, well it turns out that ChanServ needs my original nick (|LK|Bardon) in order to be added to any channel's list. It was a wild thought considering my current nick is supposed to be grouped with the original so this shouldn't have been required. But strangely enough that is the case. My current nick was deleted/added multiple times on one channel but it wouldn't give me permanent status, heck they even cleared/renewed the list to see if this fixes the problem but it didn't. It was until I mentioned my original nick that I finally got my status back. Also to further prove it, I checked all the channels where I already had access and all of their lists had my original nick too. I also noticed that when one gives a status via a simple command, it works for just only one session whereas in order to make it permanent they would need to use the list.

So is this one of the glitches or how its supposed to be? And do plz redo the faqs soon.... :/

There's two different "groups" for your name...your primary, or display nick, and aliases. It seems with the new services it will *only* show your display nick on access lists, but it shouldn't stop people from adding your aliases or grouped nicknames. As for the status commands, they are meant to be temporary and you would have to be added to one of the lists to have a permanent status.

Yet thats what seems to be happening. :P

Did it again on another channel just now and had the founder add my original nick to make it work. Also no the list is not showing my original IN PLACE of the current one, rather its both nicks that are appearing separately. (I checked the channel's list myself to confirm this)

If you view access lists (even on old services) it will show the MAIN nickname of your group. You should check /ns glist to make sure your nick is in fact grouped.

Yeah the nicks are all grouped and apparently with this upgrade the main nick is not just for show, it really is in fact required to use when adding to a list. I just it did again with cheese who's original nick is unicorn. Only AFTER the original nick was added, the rest of the grouped nicks had all received the same status.

EMERGENCY! My old nick is now unregistered! O_O WTH

I thought the nicks are supposed to stay registered as long as you're active enough in the network but in this case its actually some crappy time period where it will go poof no matter what.

My status/powers on every channel I'm on is now gone, including my own! >.>

Luckily I was able to use my second nick to gain back a couple of channels. (since they had coincidentally both of my nicks added in list) But other than that, I'm pretty much helpless here.

Either you guys forgot to set a parameter back to what it formally was when you updated, or it was the update itself that added this glitch but yeah plz fix this nao! D:

EDIT: LOL got a little panicked there, here's a more shorter cut to the point explanation on things:

Quote

Nicknames that are not used anymore are subject to auto expiration, i.e they will be deleted after 21 days if not used

I've been using my nick daily yet it still got auto deleted. Sense? It makes none. The screw up it caused me, ALOT. Need urgent assistance and revival of my statuses plz. :P

DOUBLE EDIT: Btw I re-registered my nick by grouping it with my second one but it still leaves me with jack on any channel. Oh and guess what, I think the old nick glitch is back again. Cheese said he needed to add my MAIN nick in order to give me access and earlier I did notice it wasn't working when he added my re-registered nick again.

TRIPLE EDIT: Posted Image
Just to point out my hate for these so called "updated" services! >.>

You're not the only one. My main nick (though not the other two in its group, oddly enough) got dropped, and I lost status in every channel but the two I own... Was hoping it would be noticed and corrected by now, but... Since it isn't, I guess I'll have to go ask for my staffness back...

In such a presumably large upgrade, I guess it's not surprising that some problems occured... As long as they get fixed, I guess I don't mind.

This was caused by data loss, database corruption when Master had to recompile yesterday. All that has happened is that your main nick has dropped and gone to one of your other nicks. When access to channels is concerned most channels should have changed it to the new main nick automatically. Do /ns glist <YourName> to get your main nick (line 1 as such:
(1:51:57 pm) -NickServ- List of nicknames in the group of Rayth:
)
Or you can PM me on IRC and i will get it for you.

Yet they didn't. Me and rivershock just confirmed that the nick glitch still exists that requires using the main nick for adding to list. Anyway I checked and looks like Bardon (my secondary nick) is my new main nick. But still no status on channels other than the two which I have owner/founder, though I do have status back now on most of em after nagging all of the channel sop/qops.... xD lol

Still a fix is needed here if you plz.

Version has been reverted after todays massive breakage. Also the databases are fixed so bardon your main nick is |LK|Bardon again.
