Hi there,

I did a little experiment with my netbook the other day and took it to school to see if I could connect to the #yvd room chat and it turns out that I couldn't even connect to the server. When I punched in "/server irc.xerocreative.com" to start connecting to the server, it just didn't work at all and said that the connection was reset. Now since my netbook also won't let me duel anyone outside of my router [I can duel my brother while he uses the desktop but no one else that I find on #yvd, yes we are connecting properly where it says "connected" and my opponent and I handshake but then that's it, they see me shuffle while I just see waiting for opponent] I can safely assume that my netbook's settings probably are to blame for this. Can someone help me so that I can connect to #yvd room and xerocreative.com server outside of my house? [I did manage to connect to the xerocreative.com #yvd room in my house though]

You won't get on in School. Most schools etc (Universities are different) will block IRC ports or any program from connecting to IRC.

Well it is tertiary education but I guess they blocked it. Is there any way to get around it?

Because school firewalls block IRC that's why.

There is no way around this unless you can get administrator access to your schools firewall.

The one thing you can try is /server void.xerocreative.com:8080 since it'll use a non-IRC port. You're out of luck if it blocks based on the traffic type, though.
