I know everyone's gotta start somewhere, but if you're new to the game, and you know you're relatively new, please don't argue rulings with me especially without proof. Or what's even worse are veterans of the game, or elitists, that will not stop arguing until you're fed up and leave; without even a link proving his/her case. So, since we've all been there, describe a scenario you remember of the most ridiculous argument over a ruling you've ever heard. Go!

I like to think I generally know my stuff, having judged at a handful of regionals and even a YCS, so yes, it's pretty annoying to me when I encounter someone who is obstinate about basic scenarios and/or fails to properly read cards.

You would not believe the number of people who make errors in regard to Phantom Skyblaster, be it skipping the second effect entirely and thinking the restriction on it is applied to the first, or thinking it counts their monsters rather than mine. I guess I should expect as such when the card has seen virtually no serious play in its life, but it's still pretty silly.

Missing the timing seems to still go over the heads of many for some reason. It's all the more irritating when I have to explain it on the fly to a HERO player who's Shining gets screwed up by using shenanigans on the chain.

Or the whole batch of people that seem to think splurging dudes then using Duality/Scapegoat/etc. is okay, but those tend to be the very new players of which you speak. lol

Lol yup. And this topic's not to say I'm some all-knowing YGO being, but if I'm wrong (having been proved so), I'll admit it. Or if I'm right, I'll go get proof (a link, a judge, etc). It's just beyond me how many people keep arguing. It's hard to overcome a murder-case with your fingerprints on the Glock -.-

Ok, here goes.

I once dueled on DN(dumdumDAAAA) and this dude started of by saying that Junk Warrior doesn't get a attack boost when Doppelwarrior was used as a Synchro material. Right. So finally I got that into his mind.  Sadly, Later on that vey turn I Synchro summoned Armory Arm.

And here comes the thing.
He claimed I could not equip it to Junk Warrior.
I asked for reasoning, and he told me to read the card. - Right. Been there- done that. I still dont see it.

I asked him what line of the card would make the difference in this situation - No real awnser - told me to read the card again.

So I just kept on asking why I could not equip it, but he couldn't give any prove at all, yet didn't want me to play it. *sad face*

Yeah. Those kind of people make me sad. So full of themselves, thinking they know it all, meanwhile misplaying and "cheating" all the time.
Right. He was playing Six Sams, so maybe he was just a want-to-win-meta-whore   (*runs*)

Honestly, I haven't had issues with "noobs".  It can be a bit frustrating sometimes haveing to talk them through things though.  Its often the "pro" players who view everyone but themselves as noobs that gets me.

I agree with you on that one redeyeszack. Players like that are probably cheaters anyway and they use that obnoxious attitude as a way of covering it up. idk lol

Nah, seriously though, the same shit happens in real life. All you need to do is say, "Dude, I'm a Judge. xD" and it usually fixes the problem. If it doesn't, go to the main chat on DN. They aren't exactly the BEST at rulings, but they know their shit better than n00bs. It'll at least solve the problems.

Edit:  Oh, and your reasoning was bad, no offense. :s Everyone does run 2 Solemn Warnings. xD

Also,

Quote

You cannot negate the activation of a card that cannot Special Summon a monster, such as Lightning Vortex.
LOL lrn2YGO n00b. (Not you, other guy. The A.S.S.)

i never have that problem cause 9 times out of 10 on YVD the guys that Sound Serious are Good and if you specify no n0b0s you dont get any n00bs

and on DN if you play rated your safe cause all the n00bs hang in Unrated

I like to argue about rulings a bit because I don't know them well, and I try arguing to understand them better. I get the advanced rulings wrong on a regular basis, especially missing the timing, since I'm still not sure what cards can and cannot miss it, and how I can tell.

"When... you can..." effects, as well as all manner of spells and traps that must respond to a specific event. This is because they must be activated at that precise moment in time (When); waiting is not an option.

Mandatory effects must happen, so they activate as soon as they can, even if they do have to wait.

If you think a sentence under your host duel, or the Rated section will save you from elitist noobs, you're gravely mistaken lol. I wish that were the case, but morons have no area code, they live everywhere

The whole arguement of rulings isn't what makes me laugh.  Its the constant insult towards YOUR English... when the guy seems to have about as good of a grasp on the language as an illegal immigrant two weeks in the country...

anyrain: i think you learn english first then play this game  (Proper use of English would be: I think you should learn english first then play this game)
ClockW0RK: lmaoo
anyrain: yeah
anyrain: TRAP
ClockW0RK: ok since you wont
ClockW0RK: let me go find a link
anyrain: you don't english..  (Proper use of English: You do not seem to understand English. English is a language/Nationality, not an action.  You cannot do English at all.  No one can.  Well, unless you use the "do" in a dirty sense...)

But this is a classic example of people only reading what they want to read on a card, putting full faith in flawed logic, and then retracting and insulting you as a defense mechanism to their own humiliation.

yeah @ Iron Stomach, putting "no Noobs" in your duel request does nothing really since not many people think of themselves as a noob and I get noobs in rated all the time which are usually the cool kids who netdecked a six sam deck and dont even understand how to execute a simple chain

for me theres a misconception on the definition and use of the term "noob" as opposed to "newb".
Newb is a new player who just knows no better and is willing to learn while a "Noob" "Nub"
etc is a negative term given to a player who can be new or old but simply refuses to follow
the rules and play the game as intended and/or listen to reason. Running into the later is
very common on DN which is why I hate it.
