In an effort to attract software developers to XC and get this section of the forum more active, I've decided to open source a lot of my old software. This stuff is all written in Visual Basic 6 (like YVD 9.1). I abandoned all three of these projects a long time ago and the code in them is of varying quality, but they are OK for learning and have potential to be completed and released. If anyone does decide to actively develop any of this software, please let me know and I can set up a community source code repository and provide direction and support in developing the code. Future source code releases will include newer software, written in C#, Java, and PHP. People shown to have talent and be interested in developing projects like these may be added to the XC development team.

Description:

This is exactly what it looks like, 2 vs 2 dueling, developed 7 years ago by me and maciel. I went back briefly in 2008 to make sure it still somewhat worked. The program is about 70-80% completed. You can build a deck, connect to 3 other people, chat, play cards, modify lifepoints, etc. It is however missing many key features, such as side/extra deck support, as well as (for obvious reasons) support for any cards or card types that have been created in the last 7 years. I'm also not sure how compatible it is with the latest set/dek formats for yvd. The download contains a todo.txt file which pretty extensively covers what would need to be done to get it completed. Be warned however that the code quality here is very poor, much worse than any of the other projects.

Description:

This was a community project run here at XC, contributed to by many members. For quite some time progress was smooth but eventually the team broke apart and it was never worked on afterwards. However I managed to complete a fairly impressive deckbuilder (designed by osiris), as seen in the screenshots above. It features intuitive coverflow views, card-dragging mechanisms, and various other cool features not seen elsewhere. The code here is much better than the 2vs2 code above, and has some very nifty UI stuff that isn't often seen in VB6 applications.

3) Naruto Shippuuden Net Battle

Description:

This was one of many Naruto-themed projects I started and never finished back in the day when I was completely obsessed with Naruto. The idea was to have 3vs3 turn-based battles with automatic match-making and cool stuff like that. The sprites are all stolen from various games but I actually modelled the 3D backgrounds myself, which was a cool learning experience. Again, the code here is much better than the 2vs2 code, and there's some cool stuff to be learned from it.

And that's all for now. Depending on community response I may release more, including more Yugioh/Naruto stuff. Please do post back here if you decide to do any work, so we can all benefit. Enjoy!

It's not complete enough to release. I was going to put the incomplete version into 9.0 as an easter egg, but that never ended up happening.
