Right now, when I load up YVD, it always connects me to irc.scrollrack.com. Lately it just tells me that I am no longer connected and can't get in. But when I connect to irc.xerocreative.com, I log in fine, but I don't know why it says that I have to keep typing my NICK and then put in my PASSWORD.

* How am I able to switch servers to irc.xerocreative.com as my default?
AND
* How am I able to connect to the server without constantly retyping my NICK then my PASS?

(If this has been answered before, please send me a link, Thank you)

You'll need to download a different IRC client. The one built into YVD isn't very customizable in that sense. I'd suggest mIRC (although it's not free). I'm sure someone around here knows of an open source/free client.

If you get the mirc 6.21 version I have a registration code for it.

Will I have to download it? I just need to switch servers in YVD. I don't want to make my own server.
Plus if there is no real way to get it by default, then I'll just do it manually.
This is not that major, just wondering if it could make my life easier.

You won't be creating a server at all, just downloading a different program to connect to ours with. Your choice either way, but there's no way to permanently set it in the IRC client built into YVD.

Opera has a built-in IRC protocol - it's not that user friendly though, honestly.

There is Chatzilla for Firefox - very easy to pick up and use.

Pidgin has built-in IRC protocols - relatively use to use, plugins can do basically anything you want IRC to do.

Trillian and xfire also have built-in IRC protocols, but I've never used either for IRC.

There is, of course, mIRC which used to be free through the use and abuse of miscoding, but that has been fixed with the newest versions. Also, pretty unfriendly to the user frankly.

There is also Mibbit, which is browser based and free. It's pretty easy to use and has a lot of documentation out on the internet.

Last and certainly least, there is Meebo, which I have never used.

[edit]

If you should so choice any of those options as a viable route for you, feel free to inquiry in this thread on how to automate a connection to the XC servers.

As a note, all the programs and services I listed are free, except mIRC [which has a 30 day trial period, if memory serves].
