My name is Sean Brown. I am writing to you today to request a number of things due to recent events that have transpired between me and your global operator Iris.

I will warn you now that this story is rather long. It started the best part of a week ago when Iris had G-lined Witch. As witch is a very good friend of mine I got in contact with Iris trying to get information on witch's G-line. She was reluctant to give me information at first however She eventually gave me all the information she could. I then suggested that maybe I could talk to Witch however Iris said that it would be for the best if Witch stayed G-lined and informed me that the ban was only a week long and not permanently like I had originally thought it was. I accepted the fact that I could do nothing and went to do other things.

20 hours later I had gotten into a fight with another user about their name (the length, it was legitimately over 20 characters long) and it had digressed into me making vague threats which prompted a response from the moderation team, specificly Iris. Unfortunately I was already in a bad mood and started mouthing off to Iris which I am truly sorry for. She promptly "shunned" me. Now at this point I didn't know what a shun was and I tried resetting my IRC client with no luck. I then tried to reset my router, during which time it came to me that Iris may have had something to do with it. I confronted her about it and ended up getting G-lined for a day. I served my punishment and went on to wait for Witch to return.

3 days later I wanted to know how long Witches ban had left and decided to ask here about it. I should note that at this point I had changed my server name from "Sazabi" to "Q" so I could wash my hands of bad cred that being a clan member of Witch's clan and the G-line had gotten me. I pretended like I had never talked to Iris before and asked when the G-line would finish. This is where things go south. When I asked the question she evaded it at first then told me "2 years". I called her out on it and she asked who I was. I told her "A follower of Witch. no one special" because I didn't want my old account to be associated with my new one. She then Threatened to G-line me if I didn't tell her the truth. I tried to evade the question a number of times before she really started to put the heat on. At that point I caved and told her who I was. She responded by saying "Thanks for falling for my little taunts.". Now I can understand the need to secure your network but what she did there was underhanded and and abuse of power in my opinion. She knew who I was all along and she was just using here power to toy with me! I was seriously offended my that act and subsequently told her that we should never speak again to which she agreed.

1 day later Witch has returned and I was happy, until Iris G-lined her again. Please try to understand my feelings here, my friend is gone for almost a week then she is back for 2 hours and then is permabanned by the exact same person. The only conclusion I could come to is that Iris had it out for Witch so I decided to confront Iris. I was semi-polite at first but the got belligerent when I thought she was ignoring me. I tried to the a hold of her for 3-4 hours before getting a response. Once i got a hold of her I told her exactly what I thought. she responded by saying "Listen, go complain somewhere else.  I don't have time for you.  Good bye.". Now at this point I was more pissed then at any point of this entire chain of events. I told her that I was going to report her for abuse because of her actions. her response was "You're shunned. Get through it, and you're banned. Have a nice day." That was all. No expiry date, No reason. Nothing. I did the most logical thing I thought I could do at the time. I reset my router and tried to get online without her noticing so I could plead my case of abuse to either Ensui, Master or Dark Magician. She however caught me and I am currently Z-lined.

I understand that this is what I should have done in the first place and I am sorry for the trouble I have caused, However I want this thread to be both my official complaint of operator abuse and request to have Iris's moderation practices reviewed. I respect the volunteers that work on the IRC channel and wish to be one myself someday, However I also think that you can't abuse the power you are given. I have no problem with any other Staff member that I am aware of and I am sorry for most of what I did.

So basically I am asking that you please give me one more chance. Witch is gone for good, I know that now. I wish it weren't true but at this point I'm in no position to help her. I just hope that this whole situation get resolved soon.

So, you evaded a ban instead of going through proper channels. That got you banned. I don't see the problem here....

No. Witch has been given many chances. The constant abuse of other members and other events led to the ban(s) in question. The only reason why Witch happened to appear again was because of a dynamic IP. In fact:

Guess who? Knowingly banned, yet evades a ban. Nothing points to operator abuse.

As it stands now, your appeal is denied. Obviously you just think we're being "oppressive" when in fact we are enforcing our policies. If you don't like our (lax) rules, then you don't have to use our services here.
