It is my personal belief that there should be no reason not to run a full 15 card extra deck. ESPECIALLY on YVD. There just is no excuse. The strange thing is, the majority of the players don't know this and actually try and challenge this. I'm here to put this to rest.




The More Options the Better

If you have 15 card extra deck, you have more options than somebody that doesn’t have one. You have multiple choices of Synchros to play in different situations. I’ve seen games won by that extra Armory Arm that the average player wouldn’t have thought to put in his/her Extra Deck.

What if you don’t have any tuners in your deck? Well, the Extra Deck serves an extra function. It gives your opponent the impression that you have Synchros in your deck. Trust me, if you have no Extra Deck, your opponent will play differently than if you had one. No Extra Deck also means you aren’t playing Top Tier, which is a HUGE read for your opponent.


To sum it up: put 15 cards in your extra, you never know how they may help you!

also, even if you don't run tuners, if you run brain control or anything like that you might have an opportunity to synchro with your opponent's tuner.

There IS one reason NOT to run a full extra deck, and that is Memory Crusher.  No other reason, though.

I'd like to see someone actually use Memory Crusher though.

I always run an extra deck. Having only 15 sometimes feels limited though.

But I remember using a SOL Dragon deck. I Brain controlled my opponent's tuner and Synchro Summoned and he said "Omg! You use Synchros even though you have no tuners??!!"

To be fair, WSOL is a level 1 tuner but I rarely was able to pull of a Synchro due mostly having high level monsters on the field and WSOL in the grave.

The comment though sticked in my mind. Ends up proving the point of this thread.

Do people actually USE Memory Crusher?

The only time I can see anyone using Memory Crusher is in Pegasus League where it would inflict 3000 damage instead of 1500 with a loaded Extra Deck.

If you were trying to main deck it you would have to run Creature Swap and Barrel, since you can't expect everyone in Pegasus League to have 30 cards in their extra.
