Wow, What a crazy last 14 hours.

Okey, Lets start...

So i do the usual back up files and database before i start the forums upgrade.

I upload the 2.1.4 files. (Upload #1)
I run the upgrade script.

I get a php error.
I call my host to get the php settings tweaks (Call #1)
He fixes it

Finish teh upgrade script and try to run the forums.
Apparently the IBtopics is corrupted...whoops.

Contact the guy who hosts my server. He does a restore from a disk backup. (Call #2)
The Backup is only 1/2 there....whoops (Corrupted Backup #1)

I go look for my backup that i started before all this drama.
Apparently my backup only had 1/2 the databases there (Corrupted Backup #2)

Whoops.

So then i go back to the only other backup that i have, from May 5th of this year. Darn, all the important databases were just corrupted zip files. (Corrupted Backup #3)

So at that point, the posts and topics were lost. Whoops!

Fortunatly, i still had the members database, but it was in a format for an older verison of the forums.

So i upload the forums script versoin 2.0.1 (Upload #2)
Only to find out that the member databse is really 3 databases.
So i call my host again to restore the other 2 databases from this morning that were not corrupted (Call #3)

I "install" the old version of the forums as if it was scratch, make sure it works. Then

I uploaded the forums version 2.1.4 (Upload #3)
I ran the upload script without trouble this time.

and then i spent 2 1/2 hours setting what permssions and forums that Sorbob and I remember.

So all it took was 12 hours, losing all data but usernames and user related info, 3 diffrent corrupted backups, 3 diffrent phone calls, and 3 diffrent total installations of the forums and it works. :/

Hopefully Andrew can fill in any major blanks (and missing forums) that i dont have.

Things to note:
All Mods and their data were lost. (Army, Arcade, etc)
All XC Buxs are still accounted for, you just cant see them at the moment.
Some forums are missing, i have a terrible memory.

Yea...that realy suxed......How were all 3 back up files corupted?????

Hopefuly you guys can get the froum back up to 100%

Mike, i hope that everything turns ok. You did a great work in 12 hours(3 back up files corupted,this wasnt easy)the new look of the site is really nice

holy crap the database is gone

guess that's a good thing? less load on the server stuff =P

THe site also seems to be runnign awfully slow, to the point of timing out while loading some pages.
It's probably something on my end, but it may also be a side effect of this whole deal.

Oh well. Give it a little while. And if it's not done then?
Wait some more.

  For reference in the future was back up all you data first! You should know this. And Second always have a physical hard copy to the back up. >< it is too smurf.. too blue. or it could be my kitty climbing over my arm to get my fingers typing on the keybaord..
